About Miracle Messages
Miracle Messages is an award-winning nonprofit organization headquartered in California that rebuilds social support systems and financial security for unhoused neighbors, primarily through family reunifications, a phone-based, volunteer-driven buddy system, and monthly direct cash transfers. Miracle Messages offers a humane and effective way to help end homelessness, strengthen social supports, shatter stigmas, and empower people everywhere to get involved so no one has to go through homelessness alone.
Miracle Messages provides a reunion service, which allows a person isolated by homelessness to both record and receive short messages with loved ones. Then, the Miracle Messages volunteer network will attempt to locate the loved one and deliver the message. The organization also operates the Miracle Friends program, which matches unhoused neighbors with caring volunteers for weekly calls and texts to provide general wellness check-ins and problem-solving support. The third pillar of the program is Miracle Money, a monthly direct cash transfer program for people experiencing homelessness.

Miracle Messages & Zoom Cares
Through support and technology from Zoom Cares, Miracle Messages was able to expand programming during the pandemic, which has allowed the organization to connect with volunteers and partners to amplify reach and reduce loneliness during COVID-19. As a result, Miracle Messages was able to connect with volunteers from all over the world on a weekly basis and with important partners monthly. With most of the organization’s work being conducted remotely, having a reliable and easily accessible platform to connect has been essential for the team’s success. Weekly training sessions have remained remote through the Zoom platform, which allows participants to join from anywhere in the world.
How Miracle Messages Delivers Impact
Miracle Messages is focused on eradicating relational poverty, an often-overlooked form of poverty that is pervasive among people experiencing homelessness. Miracle Messages works to rebuild social support systems and financial security for our unhoused neighbors:
- 500+ families reunited worldwide through Miracle Messages, after, on average, more than 10 years of being disconnected
- 150+ new friendships through Miracle Friends, worldwide
- In 2021, $50K was distributed through Miracle Money to 14 unhoused beneficiaries. As a direct result of receiving $500 a month over 6 months, 66% of recipients secured housing
